Space Systems Engineer (R&D)

Job description

In a fast-growing nanosatellite market, we are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to reinforce our R&D department. In this role you are the connecting link between various disciplines within the organization and responsible for all technical aspects within smallsat systems research and development projects. This can be both satellite (sub)systems, and ground-based equipment. You will work in a small and highly motivated team and work closely with internal engineers, external partners and customers.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Execution and coordination of feasibility studies and/or development of innovative integrated systems.
  • Translating stakeholder requirements into high-level system requirements by consulting with various disciplines.
  • Requirement management throughout the project life cycle.
  • Preliminary and detailed design activities, including mission- and budget analyses.
  • Technical management and coordination of the project team, including external project partners.
  • Preparation of procurement documentation and support to manufacturing activities.
  • Definition of the verification and test phase, hands-on test execution.
  • Contributing to internal (systems engineering) process development.

Job requirements

  • Degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a system engineering role for space systems.
  • Exposure to the full development lifecycle of a complex (small) satellite system.
  • You have an understanding of research projects and the uncertainty that can come with it.
  • Energetic team player with a positive and open mindset within an international and multicultural environment
  • Excellent and straightforward communication skills.

  • A strategic and analytical mind.
  • A solution-driven work ethic.
  • Experienced in and willing to contribute to proposals/tenders is a plus.
