Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled RF (Radio Frequency) Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The RF Systems Engineer will be responsible for analysing, ensuring, and improving the performance of the RF systems and components. A critical part of this role involves analysing complex RF issues, addressing Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) concerns, and ensuring optimal performance across various operating conditions. Candidates should have strong analytical skills, a solid background in RF theory and microwave engineering, and hands-on experience in the full lifecycle of RF system development.
Your main responsibilities:
Perform antenna and RF system simulations using industry-standard software to analyse and predict performance on various platforms.
Develop and execute test plans to validate RF system performance and ensure compliance with design specifications.
Analyse data from RF tests and simulations to diagnose issues, optimize system performance, and propose innovative solutions.
Identify RF-related issues, such as interference, noise, and EMI/EMC challenges, and design/implement solutions to address them, including proper grounding, shielding, and filtering techniques.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and mechanical engineers, to integrate RF systems into our satellites and develop them as stand-alone products.
Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and compliance documentation.
Conduct field tests and performance evaluations to ensure RF systems meet operational requirements and customer expectations.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in RF engineering and apply this knowledge to enhance our products and processes.
Job requirements
Prerequisites:
An academic Bachelor’s or Master’s (MSc) degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
At least 3-4 years or more of working experience in RF engineering, RF system design or a related field.
In-depth knowledge of RF theory, microwave engineering, antenna design principles.
Proven experience with RF system simulation and modelling tools (e.g., HFSS, CST, MATLAB, Genesys, Python).
Experience with RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analysers, network analysers, oscilloscopes) and EMI/EMC testing equipment.
Experience with designing for EMI/EMC compliance, including knowledge of grounding, shielding, filtering, and layout techniques.
Good communication skills in English (spoken and written).
Ability to work independently, think critically, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The following will be considered as a plus:
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and technical standards (e.g., CISPR, MIL-STD, ECSS, CCSDS, ETSI, ITU).
Familiarity with PCB layout and design for RF systems.
Hands-on experience with developing and prototyping RF and analogue electronic systems and / or antennas.
Experience in developing software tools for RF and EMI/EMC testing and analysis.
