Job description

In today’s fast-growing nanosatellite market, ISISPACE offers a broad portfolio of miniaturized components and subsystems that are used in our own satellite missions, or sold as standalone products to customers globally. These are used in a wide variety of applications, from testing out new technologies or concepts in space, to earth observation, and connectivity.

 

As an Electronics Engineer in the Research & Development department, you’ll work on design, development, testing and verification of spacecraft (sub)systems. You will work in a small and highly motivated team and work closely with internal engineers, external partners and customers.

Specific tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing and testing space rated electronic systems.

  • Taking ownership of the development process from requirements through design, manufacturing and qualification.

  • Applying consistent design and documentation practices in your work; and contributing to the development of these practices together with your colleagues.

Job requirements

  • Education in Electronics engineering (e.g BEng, BSc, or MSc); or equivalent educational / practical background.

  • 2-3 years of demonstrable experience of designing complex electronic systems to a high standard. This can be gained in student projects, industry or combined.

  • Thorough understanding of digital electronics and high-speed PCB layout techniques.

  • Competency with electronic CAD software (Altium, KiCAD or others).

  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacture (DfM) and Design for Test (DfT) considerations.

  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and logic analysers.

  • Excellent and straightforward communication skills, in English (verbal and in writing).

  • An open and creative mindset

Bonus points if you also bring:

  • Practical experience in a combined development and small series production environment.

  • Experience working with IPC standards, for example IPC-2221C.

  • Familiarity with commonly used protocols: CAN, RS-422, SpaceWire.

  • Familiarity with Microcontrollers and/or FPGAs.

  • Familiarity with ECSS standards, for example ECSS-Q-ST-30-11C for derating.

  • An interest and desire to engage with the wider space industry.
